By highlighting and actively promoting access to and development of economic, social, and cultural opportunities, Santa Cruz Next is a catalyst for connecting the next generation of residents to the community at large and actively promotes and partners with organizations that honor and support those positive values and characteristics that will continue to improve Santa Cruz as a unique, desirable, healthy, and prosperous place to live, work, and play.

- Works on bringing a community awareness to the the migrant youth and focusing their attention on community and regional development as well.
- Holds a variety of events that foster fellowship and create resolutions to intense debates around issues facing the community.
- Current membership numbers over 439 members who regularly use Facebook, Twitter, and other means to keep in touch with each other.
- Members are actively participating in various community committees.
- Aggressively involves youth who until recently felt they had no voice in local community building activities and processes.
- During municipal elections they invite candidates to give presentations and meetings in a party like fun atmosphere.
- Actively approach new potential members, from various sectors of the community, by reaching out at a variety of venues including movie theaters, the beach, and clubs.
- Engages in beach clean ups on Independence Day and organizes various events that support the community and citizens.
